The highly anticipated return of the annual Derby Telegraph Business Awards is the talk of the region with businesses of all sizes eagerly entering into the 15 award categories.

Behind each of these categories is a supporting sponsor, who each year come on board to help heighten and raise the profile of the award ceremony. And, this year the calibre of business sponsors is truly something to brag about. From the world of law, to education and retail, the sponsorship line-up is shaping up to be the best yet.

One such sponsor bringing prestige and reputation to the ceremony is shopping centre, intu Derby. Passionate about giving people their perfect shopping experience, intu Derby bring together their scale, expertise and understanding of what customers want to provide compelling experiences that deliver real results for retailers, restaurateurs and leisure specialists.

And it is their understanding of what customers want now and in the future, that sees them gain returning visitors, time and time again.

This year the shopping centre has once again, placed their backing behind the Contribution to the Community award – a category which commends businesses that dedicate themselves to their corporate social responsibilities. Leading the judging panel and determining the eventual three finalists for the award will be General Manger at intu Derby, Adam Tamsett.

On why he sees this category as the perfect fit for their sponsorship, Adam said: “As a business, intu holds our responsibility to the community in which we operate as one of our core values and it’s a responsibility we take very seriously here in Derby.  The award for Contribution to the Community recognises the fantastic work done throughout the region to improve the lives of the people across Derbyshire. We’re committed to this and hope that these awards will continue to encourage others to take an active role.”

intu Derby opened its doors to the city in 2007, and more than 10 years on have brought so much to the region and impacted its community in many ways. Detailing the key ways in which the centre contributes to Derby’s community, Adam said:

“intu Derby is one of the most popular retail and leisure destinations in the East Midlands attracting 23 million customers every year. We are home to some of the UK’s biggest brands and with our new 42,000 sq ft leisure space, we’re giving people more reasons to visit Derby.”

He continued: “As a city, we have seen significant business developments over recent years and with lots more inner city living, leisure and retail and commercial developments in the pipeline plans to improve the wider city centre are coming to fruition.  Add to this that we have the Peak District on our doorstep and the tourism this brings to the region I think we are all perfectly positioned to continue to build a great future for this wonderful county.”

Constantly innovating and bringing in new and exciting brands to ensure the best possible experience for their visitors, there are always changes and plans in progress at intu Derby, and sharing just a few of them, Adam said: “intu Derby aim to be the best retail, food and leisure destination in the East Midlands.  Over the coming year we will continue to focus on building upon the successful launch of our new leisure development that opened in April 2017. We will also continue to attract new, high quality retailers to ensure we make intu Derby a leisure and retail destination that everyone enjoys.”
