The station sponsor business awards of this kind across the East Midlands and thanks to their continued sponsorship, are a key player in making the awards great. Speaking of their continued association with the Derby Telegraph Business Awards in particular, Ross Wilson, Smooth Radio’s Station Manager, said: “The city is a thriving place for businesses to be based and as a commercial radio station covering Derbyshire we always try to support the local business community. We like to give back to and recognise organisations and individuals that have contributed in some way to our thriving area.
He continued: “We ourselves stand strong in Derby’s business community and have established long-term and solid relationships and these Business Awards celebrate those partnerships, as well providing an opportunity to create new ones.”
Smooth Radio, as it is known today, has held a presence in the region for many years. Reaching 474,000 listeners every week, the radio is a great platform for businesses to advertise and further their reach. This is just one of the ways in which the station helps to bring a boost to the business community around them.
Highlighting other ways in which they impact the community, Ross said: “We’re Radio People who Make a Difference and are proud to support the recognition of overachievement in the East Midlands region. Our support of the local community extends to our own clients, local businesses looking to thrive in the region increasing their customer base and market share. So, we will continue to use our audience reach to help them achieve the best results for their business.”
Their sponsorship may help praise other businesses in the region that have enjoyed success, but that doesn’t stop the station looking to their own future and they have a very clear business objective for the upcoming months, which Ross outlined: “We have a talented team of presenters who cater to all listeners’ music preferences and provide content that is always creative, visual, interactive and innovative. Our primary aim over the next 12 months is to continue to broadcast a first class mix of music and conversation for our dedicated listeners on all platforms.”
