From long-standing companies to brand new businesses who are just beginning to make a name for themselves in the region, the city of Derby is home to some successful businesses who are continually making an impact in the area.
Making sure these businesses get the recognition they deserve is the Derby Telegraph Business Awards. The annual event returns for 2019 and will see a whole host of companies battle it out to win one of the evening’s coveted awards.
Looking back at a wonderful year, the ceremony will take place on 5 June at The Roundhouse at Derby College.
Open to companies from all sectors, and sizes, undoubtedly the award that everyone wants to get their hands on is the ‘Company of the Year’ award. This always anticipated award celebrates a business who has stood out from the crowd and performed exceptionally over the course of the year.
All of the finalists in this year’s category will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of last year’s winner, renewable energy firm, Project Better Energy. The company are dedicated to using state-of-the-art technology to help people save money and be more environmentally friendly.
New businesses are opening their doors in Derby all the time, and to acknowledge these developments the ‘Start-Up Business of the Year’ award celebrates a company who have only been in business for a maximum of three years.
Last year this award was won by mobile veterinary practitioners, VetCare@Home. The firm are a home-visiting mobile vet service who provide the highest level of care to people’s pets across the region.
The manufacturing industry is booming in Derby and the ‘Excellence in Manufacturing Award’ shines a spotlight on a manufacturer who has really excelled in the region, and also made a difference to the local economy. This award went the way of hydraulic and pneumatic parts suppliers, Tidyco. The company have over 40 year’s experience and have seen their offering used in 50 different countries.
It isn’t only businesses who have a proven track record of making a profit that are acknowledged at the Derby Telegraph Business Awards. The ‘Not-For-Profit Organisation Award’ celebrates a firm who has made a real difference to the local community.
This award was won by Derby County Community Trust last year, the official charity of Derby County Football Club, the trust arranges and attends a number of community and charity based initiatives, supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged people across the region.
This year’s Derby Telegraph Business Awards will be hosted by badminton legend, Gail Emms MBE and popular comedian Mark Dolan.
