As well as recognising the remarkable success that businesses have achieved in the last year, the Derby Telegraph Business Awards celebrates the wonderful contribution to the local community that these companies make.
With this in mind, this year’s ceremony will include the ‘Contribution to the Community Award.’ The winner of this category will have demonstrated a dedication to supporting the local community in a number of ways whether that is in a corporate, social or ethical manner.
This award will be sponsored by Lubrizol Corporation, a global company who provide speciality chemicals for a number of markets and industries. Many of Lubrizol’s products can be found in everyday items such as shampoos, medicine, clothes and even cars.
Simon Griffiths is the General Manager of Lubrizol’s Hazelwood office and he explained why they decided to sponsor this category.
“We are honoured to sponsor the ‘Contribution to the Community Award’ in 2019. For over 70 years, Lubrizol has been a proud supporter of our local community, regional businesses and education sectors. By sponsoring this award, we are further demonstrating our support in the community, an area of work which we are passionate about and committed to throughout Derbyshire, the UK and across the globe.”
Lubrizol believe it is important for regional businesses to support one another, something that events such as the Derby Telegraph Business Awards allows to happen. Simon discussed how the company contribute to the regional business community.
“Our products are in businesses all over the world, in the vehicles that we drive, in manufacturing processes, the farming industry, across pharmaceuticals and thousands of other everyday applications.
“So, we are confident that we contribute in a huge way to this region’s business community and also to the people who live in and around Derbyshire. Not only that, we also recruit the majority of our Hazelwood workforce from across this region and our customers and overseas visitors enjoy the fantastic hospitality industries available to them throughout the county.”
This year’s Derby Telegraph Business Awards takes place on 5 June at the Roundhouse at Derby College. The night will see some of the biggest and best businesses from across the region come together, businesses of all sizes recognised.
The night will also see the chance for money to be raised for an extremely deserving cause in the form of Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People. Caring for children who are suffering from life-threatening or life-limiting conditions, the charity rely on fundraising events such as the awards and a gem of stand-up bingo and a silent auction will take place to raise money for the foundation.
